Is it safe to use a space heater in a toddler’s room?

With the high cost of propane this year, I’d like to keep the thermostat as low as possible and heat only the rooms(s) we’re in with portable space heaters. I have owned a DeLonghi oil filled heater before and thought it was safe to use at night, my husband is freaking out at the mere suggestion of using a space heater in our toddler’s room, claiming it’s a “fire waiting to happen”. Assuming I bought a brand new one and used it according to directions, would I be able to sleep at night knowing my toddler is warm and safe?

 

What’s a safe space heater to use in the winter in a mobile home? No one there all winter?

   MaChick asked: Last year propane ran out in mobile home during winter which is located in the mountains as a summer home. Outside water pipes broke because of no heat inside.
