has a tiny little GE 240v motor and a neat looking circular heating element, it has a thermostat on the side which i forgot to show. and it has spent its life in a very moist underground pump room. i think rust has taken its toll! oh and myles it has torrington blades!

not much to see on the inside. its about as simple as they come. a circular heating element a small fan and a thermostat.

Well, get it cleaned up and rewire in it run on 240 then! It’d also be interesting to see it apart as well.

well im yet to hook it up to 240 like it is supposed to be run from but it kind of works on 120, but it barley moves any air at all. it makes heat fine! doesnt even glow at all! but yeah being in the moist underground pump room for 30-40 years didnt do it much good! water often drips off the ceiling when it rains!

well i plugged it in on 110 which apparently it has been run on for the last? years. i is half the voltage so you have to give the fan a spin to get it going. but belive it or not it works ok. im going to test it on 240 soon. it heats up alittle. it does not glow red. so its not very scary after all. just the outside

you probably think im a wacko trying t ofix this thing! even the metal pail it was sitting on started to collapse when i removed the heater from it! the majority of it is ok. the electrical part of the restoration seems like it will be easy!

i tryed it. i think the cord went on me. it doesnt do anything. i tryed bypassing the thermostat and still nothing. ill try a new cord and see what we get!
February 11th, 2010 at 12:35 am

February 19th, 2010 at 5:19 am
it’s there in case of emergency? I think if you plugged it in it would CREATE an emergency! XD looks like it could use some bondo lol

well im going to go through the wireing and give it a try. my dad says he used it once since they bought the house in the 80’s. it probably works fine. someone wired it up to work on 110v as there is no 240v outlet in our pump room. so the heater just wont get as hot as it could.

I would be scared to use it too!
