Which kind of auxiliary heat is the best?

Our plan this winter is to use less propane by buying some kind of portable space heaters–quartz, oil-filled radiator, etc.
I’d appreciate any advice as to which is best overall by way of heat produced, electricity usage and initial cost. Thanks!

The conversion from electricity to heat is rather efficient. They claim halogen is slightly better than others. But I doubt the cost will vary much.

I don’t know the current cost of delivered propane but I question much of any savings unless you tend to heat a smaller area.

Oil filled radiators give heat more slowly but that is a much more even heat. Others as they cycle on and off tend to be a bit hot and then cold. They are harder to control in that way. Plus if they have fans you have that noise added.

    Good Luck

Wood heat is cheap if you cut your own wood. It is more work but pretty much free once you get set up.
